'The Night Of' season finale spoilers: Jack Stone to face major controversy; Will final verdict favor Naz?

HBO's riveting drama "The Night Of" wraps up its freshman run on Sunday, and the story will finally reveal if Nasir "Naz" Khan (Riz Ahmed) will be convicted for Andrea's (Sofia Black-D'Elia) murder or if he will be proven innocent of the crime.
Naz's journey to finding some sort of justice is already nearing its end, but he will have to face certain complications first before he even hears the final verdict. According to the official synopsis for the finale "The Call of the Wild," Jack Stone (John Turturro) will be facing a major controversy which puts him in the spotlight. This new shakeup will affect the whole defense team and possibly affect the overall verdict.
As Cartermatt points out, anything can happen in the closing episode. Given the amount of time left for everyone, Naz's fate will seismically influence his parents, his community and the female victim's family as well. To boot, it could even have an impact on Chandra (Amara Karan) since she also shared a slight romantic moment with Naz inside the cell.
Back in episode 7, it was already hinted that the fact whether Naz actually committed the crime or not will not be very important for the defense team. Instead, Naz's lawyers Chandra and Jack Stone will put focus on gathering more substantial evidences in favor of Naz. Their main objective to win the case is to not let the Jury agree on a "guilty beyond reasonable doubt" verdict for him. Based on the previous events, it seems Naz's defense team is willing to do anything to give him the justice he deserves.
HBO has yet to announce the show's renewal or cancellation but given its high rating and mostly-positive reviews, the show being axed is highly unlikely.
