HBO's riveting mystery drama "The Night Of" wrapped up its freshman run with an ambiguous ending, leaving the door open for many possible plot twists. Star Amara Karan, who portrays the lead character's love interest/attorney Chandra Kapoor, recently spoke about the possible season 2.

In an interview with Variety, Karan admitted that she also heard rumors on a renewal but nothing has been confirmed yet. When asked what lies ahead for her character, the actress shared an idea she has for Chandra's career. "You're going to have to tune into 'The Night Of' Season 2! You could invent so many wonderful stories. Why not? She could open her own law firm and start her career all over again," she said.

On the subject of returning for another season, Karan mentioned she is more than willing to reprise her role or portray a new character. "Oh yes! Absolutely if there's a great story and a great part, absolutely, as there was in the first season. I really loved making the show. I learned a lot. I loved working with John Turturro and Riz and Steven Zaillian. It was a dream come true. If a good story came up, I'd grab it," she added.

Spanning eight episodes, "The Night Of" season 1 follows Nasir "Naz' Khan (Riz Ahmed), a college student accused of murdering a woman he met in a bar. The finale saw Naz eventually getting out of jail, but a lot of questions were left unanswered including the identity of the true murderer.

Lead star Ahmed previously said a new storyline would be better for season 2 instead of just continuing Naz's arc. Similar to the show's British version, a different case might be tackled featuring new characters. He ended his statement with a quote, saying: "Better to quit while you're ahead."

To date, HBO still has yet to renew "The Night Of."
