'The Newsroom' Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers: ACN Lands At The Bottom Of The Ratings

The final season of "The Newsroom" will revolve around the Boston Marathon bombings when it premieres at 9 p.m. on Nov. 9 on HBO.
In the premier episode, titled "Boston," the ACN will still be dealing with the aftermath of the Genoa scandal which saw the network being put to shame for taking patently wrong action.
The Boston Marathon bombings then took place, prompting ACN to be more cautious in reporting the events that followed, including the subsequent hunt for the perpetrators. This cautious approach will slow down ACN's news coverage, as it finds itself lagging behind other news networks in reporting major developments. This eventually pulls down ACN in the ratings, something the network has not faced before.
However, the ACN will ultimately emerge as the winner for its cautious approach as other networks make a series of reporting blunders.
Will McAvoy (played by Jeff Daniels) is again going to be at the center of the action after the bombings. In the trailer for the season, he is seen taking some tough decisions about stating details in the news that have not been corroborated by law enforcement.
The premier episode of Season 3 will also see Neal (Dev Patel) discussing that he has been offered classified documents stolen from the government. These documents show that false stories planted in the press caused widespread riots in Kundu.
Eventually, according to the International Business Times, the stolen documents will prompt the FBI to conduct a raid on ACN. This naturally causes additional problems for the network which now faces the possibility of closure.
The synopsis also mentions that Maggie (Alison Pill) will be forced to take over from Elliot (David Harbour) after the bombings in the Boston Marathon.
