More interesting episodes are up ahead when HBO's drama "The Leftovers" returns for its third and final season, and new set of photos to delight anticipating fans have recently surfaced.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Carrie Coon weighed in on what sets the series apart from others. "While we have a premise that is supernatural, the emotions are not," said Coon, who portrays Nora Durst in the series. "That's where the power of the show is. It's not sci-fi; it's about people trying to understand how they're going to continue to put one foot in front of the other."

Looking back at how the show progressed and its imminent end, executive producer and director, Mimi Leder feels bittersweet about the final season. "The show is extremely emotional — oftentimes I'm crying behind the camera or laughing," she explained. "It's between the lines that we find that moment that matters the most. For the actors, the camera, catching that glimmer. It's very gratifying."

As of now, the writers are still in the process of constructing the storyline for season 3. According to Liv Tyler who plays the role of Megan "Meg" Abbott, she already began filming but she still does not know how the whole story will play out. "I did a little bit of filming, I have a very vague idea of something that might happen, but really I don't know because they are still writing it," Tyler told Awards Daily. "They have a whole outline and then over the course of a certain amount of months, I think the amount of work and dedication and focus that Damon [Lindelof] and Tom Perrotta and the team of writers have put into this is really super intense, quite extraordinary the level of writing they are doing."

The actress also lauded how the plot was written, saying that it goes "above and beyond" television writing.

Filming wrapped up back in Memorial Day and this coming Fall, the cast and crew will go back to work in Australia. As of now, the network has yet to announce a definitive premiere date for "The Leftovers" season 3, but the series is expected to premiere in the latter part of 2016.
