'The Leftovers' season 3 spoilers: details on farewell season, show to move from Texas to Australia

The third and final season of "The Leftovers" is still in the process of production but when the hit HBO series returns, the mystery of the "Sudden Disappearance" will finally be resolved.
In an interview with Deadline, series creator Damon Lindelof shared that the upcoming installment will be different from the two previous seasons. "We eventually said, what do we want the last scene of the series to be, who's in that scene and what's happening in that scene, what do we want that scene to evoke emotionally?" Lindelof said. "[O]n a storytelling level, what happens, what feels like finality in a show that has never been about resolving mystery and delivering conclusive endings, now that the show is actually going to end? And how do we want the audience to be feeling when it's all over?"
When asked if the ending will shock or comfort viewers, Lindelof said: "Definitely not shock. As for comfort — well, that's all relative."
According to TV Line, the original cast members will return to reprise their roles in season 3, including Justin Theroux (Kevin Garvey), Carrie Coon (Nora Durst), Liv Tyler (Meg Abbott), Christopher Eccleston (Matt Jamison), Chris Zylka (Tom Garvey), Janel Moloney (Mary Jamison) and Margaret Qualley (Jill Garvey). "Sherlock" star Lisa Duncan will also join the show but her character is yet to be revealed.
Details about the storyline are still being kept under wraps, but the production is reportedly moving from Texas to Australia. Spoiler reports claim that the plot will stay true to the source material which is Tom Perrotta's novel which carries the same title. For the uninitiated, the critically-acclaimed series follows the Garveys' lives after a strange phenomenon dubbed as the "Sudden Disappearance" happens in their town, causing a small part of the population to mysteriously vanish.
"The Leftovers" season 3 is expected to premiere sometime next year.
