'The Last of US' release date and plot rumors: Sequel to have new main protagonist?

Rumors about Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us 2" continue despite no official announcement yet being made about the game; release date and plot rumors are already circulating all over the Internet and fans are eagerly awaiting the new release.
Although Naughty Dog is currently shifting its focus to the release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," the company has been collecting different ideas about the sequel of its hit horror/adventure video game, "The Last of Us," MNR Daily reports. The publication also gathered that Naughty Dog is trying its best to come up with the best possible ideas for "The Last of Us 2."
Fans are certainly hoping for another installment of the game and although the company has not confirmed if it will ever be made, most fanatics are almost certain that the sequel will definitely hit the market soon.
The confidence of fans may have been triggered by a statement from Sony's Shu Yoshida. The Japanese tech legend said that a discussion of a potential follow-up of "The Last of Us" has already started.
"We haven't confirmed 'The Last of Us 2,' but ever since the launch of the first game, people like Neil [Druckmann, creative director] are talking about some ideas for a potential sequel, some experiments that they want to do. It's just talks around development," said Yoshida during an interview with EuroGamer last year.
The success of the original "The Last of Us" could also signal a sequel. The game has been one of the most successful releases for Sony PlayStation.
Meanwhile, according to BitBag, fans have speculated that the main protagonist of the first installment might not be in the sequel. There are reports that suggest Ellie will be the main character of "The Last of Us 2."
Fans should note that these rumors still need to be confirmed by Naughty Dog or from anyone that is directly involved in the project.
