'The Last of Us 2' release date rumors and news: Sequel's development has already started?

When voice actor Nolan North revealed that game developer Naughty Dog is planning to develop another sequel of the action-adventure survival horror video game, "The Last of Us," fans were definitely excited. However, he backtracked from his earlier statement explained that he only said that from a gamer's point of view.
"I went back and I watched it and I did say what I said," explained the voice actor during an interview with MoviePilot. "But I said it from the idea of like any fan. In my head, 'A game that makes that much money, is that critically acclaimed, they would probably do that.' But I didn't say 'probably.' To this day, I have no knowledge of it because I don't work at Naughty Dog."
Many fans of the title clearly remember North's revelation of "The Last of Us 2." He stated his prediction during the MetroCon that the second installment will come out. He obviously did not expect it to hit that big after several media outlets wrote many articles regarding his statement. He then said that his prediction should not be taken seriously as voice actors do not have any idea with regard to the development of the game.
Meanwhile, According to Vine Report, the development of the game has already begun given that Naughty Dog follows a timeline. Creative director Neil Druckmann also revealed in an earlier report from Game Radar that his team has already gathered ideas on how to make the next installment of the highly popular horror game. He said that before they decided to start with "Uncharted 4" with American game director Bruce Straley, they already talked about new characters of the game.
"The answer is - and this is totally honest, and I've said this in the past - that when Bruce (Straley) and I moved over to 'Uncharted 4,' we were brainstorming ideas for 'The Last Of Us 2' with new characters; ideas for 'TLOU 2' with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas," Druckmann said according to Game Radar.
