"The Last of Us 2" release date news: Naughty Dog to launch the sequel after the rollout of "Uncharted 4"?

When the original "The Last of Us" was released in June 2013, fans and critics have quickly talked about an upcoming sequel. Although nothing has been confirmed yet by its developer, Naughty Dog, rumors and speculations about its release date and plot have already circulated on the Internet. The latest rumor that got so many players excited came from the voice actor who played David in the game, Nolan North.
North confirmed that the sequel is definitely in the works. Although the confirmation was unofficial, fans and critics believed it. It started to become the subject of numerous rumors and reports in many forums and gaming news websites. However, the voice actor backpedaled when he spoke with Movie Pilot and made an official statement suggesting that his previous announcement has no weight at all.
"I went back and I watched it and I did say what I said. But I said it from the idea of like any fan. In my head, 'a game that makes that much money, is that critically acclaimed, they would probably do that.' But I didn't say 'probably.' To this day, I have no knowledge of it because I don't work at Naughty Dog," explained North through Movie Pilot in January 2016.
Many fans were definitely disappointed when North made that statement. Although there is no other definite report with regard to the next installment of the title, fans are still keeping it positive believing that Naughty Dog is preparing something big for them before this year ends.
Meanwhile, Neil Druckmann, "The Last of Us" game director, stated last year that the company was trying to get the best ideas from the team for the upcoming sequel.
As of the moment, Naughty Dog is focusing on the upcoming release of the new "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End." The development of "The Last of Us" sequel may have been affected by the current priorities of the company.
