Titled "The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now," the one-off special's newly-released promo trailer shows Conrad, 30, lounging on a couch. "So often, we would say, 'If you knew the real story, like, you would understand.' And what I'd like to do is tell that story," she says.

The fashion designer also mentioned that she will be "taking a look at what things are like now, and then we're going to take a look back at the show and reveal things we've never talked about before."

Running from 2006 to 2010, the reality program followed Lauren along with her friends and ex-boyfriends including Heidi Montag, Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Lo Bosworth, Whitney Port and Spencer Pratt as they all try to make it in Los Angeles. Aside from launching their careers, the show also explored the ups and downs of friendship and dating.

The 2010 finale had everyone talking when the final moments of the show featured Brody and Kristin Cavallari revealing that everything was actually shot on a soundstage with props. Since then, Conrad had always defended the series, saying how not everything was fake.

"I think the story they told wasn't a dishonest one," Conrad told Allure  back in 2012. "The way they did it sometimes was. They aren't going to be there for everything. Sometimes two of their main characters will get into a fight, and that's important to the storyline. The [producers] need that reenacted."

In a recent blog post, the 30-year-old shared what fans should expect when the special airs next month. Besides looking back at her memories in "The Hills," Conrad will also give viewers a glimpse of her current life and what she's been up to. "We will be having an honest conversation about what it was really like living with cameras for so many years (spoiler alert: it was super weird), sharing some behind-the-scene secrets, and showing some of my life today," she wrote.

"The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now" airs Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
