'The Good Wife' spinoff news and updates: New series to put spotlight on redheaded lawyer Elsbeth Tascioni?

CBS' legal and political drama "The Good Wife" recently wrapped up its seven-year run, and viewers are already clamoring for a spinoff due to the show's success.
Co-creator Robert King previously confirmed that they are not closing their doors for a spinoff series. "CBS seems to be very motivated. They like these characters, but they also like the world and all these subsidiary characters, so there may be a chance," he said during the panel discussion at last month's Tribeca Film Festival.
Rumor has it that the new show will put spotlight on the character of Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), as she is seen as a character ripe for a spinoff. King expressed his interest in working more with the actress, even praising her skills as an effective comedian. "We've discussed it internally," the showrunner told E! News. "It always comes down to where you can put your energy. Our worry is that—we're not the kind of showrunners, unfortunately, who can take our eyes off this and do two things at once. I wish we could because there's no one more fun to work with and better comedian than Carrie Preston. There's such a cool show there."
Season 7 newcomer Cush Jumbo has recently opened up about her interest in doing a spinoff too, admitting that she will do it in a heartbeat if given the chance. The actress plays the role of young attorney Lucca Quinn who becomes Alicia Florrick's (Julianna Margulies) friend, and she is happily on board once the network and execs decide to push through with a spinoff.
"I knock on their door every day. I'm like, 'What's going on? What's going on with the Lucca Quinn spinoff?'" she stated via E! News. "Please, I would jump—obviously—on that train. I would love for that to happen. But I'm kind of the last one in, so I have to just kind of wait to see what happens. You can't scare the Kings off. You've got to be careful with the Kings."
As of now, nothing is set in stone yet but show creators Robert and Michelle King seem to be very open to working on a possible spinoff.
