Top-rating legal and political drama "The Good Wife" ended its Emmy-winning run early this month, but due to its undeniable success, talks about a possible spinoff have been circulating online even before the show came to a close.

According to reports, CBS is currently negotiating deals for the new show, and it will center on top attorney Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo). "The Good Wife" co-creators Michelle and Robert King will serve as executive producers of the upcoming project, but they won't be the showrunners.

Baranski caught up with The Hollywood Reporter back in April where she expressed her interest in working with the Kings again. "I always thought they understood me as an actress and they wrote beautifully for actors and they wrote women very well," said the veteran actress. "So, of course, I would hope to cross paths with them again." Baranski headlining the new show is not surprising, especially after her stellar performance in the season 7 finale of the hit CBS drama. Television critic Dan Fienberg recognized the actress' great acting skills, stating that she turned into "the unironic and unambiguous good wife" and her "walking determinedly out of the courtroom was a spectacular guarantee of another Emmy nod."

Meanwhile, season 7 standout Jumbo similarly expressed her excitement in doing a spinoff series, saying that she is very open to taking part in the project if she was given the chance. "I knock on their door every day. I'm like, 'What's going on? What's going on with the Lucca Quinn spinoff?'" Jumbo told E! News. "Please, I would jump—obviously—on that train. I would love for that to happen. But I'm kind of the last one in, so I have to just kind of wait to see what happens. You can't scare the Kings off. You've got to be careful with the Kings."

As of the moment, CBS has yet to announce plot details and an official premiere date for the upcoming spinoff series. Reports say that the show will have a straight-to-series order, but the network's spokesperson declined to give a comment about it.
