'The Good Wife' season 7 news: Julianna Margulies weighs in on finale, series spin-off on the table?
"The Good Wife" season 7 is only a few weeks away from its finale, and it is confirmed to be the last season for the show.
The rumor mill is currently going crazy about the possibility of Josh Charles returning as Will Gardner, after the well-loved character has been killed in a courtroom shooting. The series had a farewell panel at the Tribeca Film Festival where executive producer Michelle King gave interesting teasers for fans. "I've heard that rumor," King said via Entertainment Weekly. She also mentioned about plausible twists in the plot, seemingly joking by saying, "I heard that Peter is going to be starting another affair. I heard that Alicia and Eli kissed. I heard that Alicia and Jason ran off happily together. And I heard that Michelle Obama guest starred. And I will tell you that one of those is true."
Regardless if Charles will be back or not, lead actress Julianna Margulies promised that the show will be "satisfying, uplifting and sad." Margulies also weighed in on her relationship with the showrunners and the script she recently received, saying, "We have a wonderful working relationship. They always say when they send the scripts, 'If any of you' – meaning any of the actors – 'have any problems with anything or concerns, please write us as soon as you can for time purposes.' I usually write them right away – glowingly, you know – but this time, I just couldn't do it. So I opened the wine [they gave me]. And I poured a wee glass, not an Alicia-sized glass because you'd be drunk. And then I read it a fourth time and then I could digest it. I wrote them, I think, three lines: 'Nothing but brilliant.'"
However, there might be a silver lining for fans of the long-running show as there are speculations about a possible spinoff. In a report by Variety, King is definitely not closing her doors. "It's very preliminary," she said. "And a little bit early to be talking about it...But there is a possibility."
The latest episode of "The Good Wife" season 7 airs April 24 on CBS. The season finale is set for May 8.
