'The Fosters' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Lena and Stef not breaking up; Is it end for Brandon and Cortney?
The summer finale of hit Freeform drama "The Fosters" ended up with a lot of complications for the whole family. Aside from the kids being in deep waters, a lot of fans were concerned when the previous episode's promo touted Lena and Stef's divorce.

In an interview, executive producer Peter Paige reassured fans that the couple remains strong amid the trials they are currently facing. "They are two women who are deeply, profoundly in love," he told TV Line. "There are challenges, like there are in any relationship, that are never going to go away... I wouldn't worry a whole, whole lot that they're going to break up."
The first half of season 4 left off with Mariana overdosing on Jesus' ADHD medicine after finding out that her boyfriend may be moving to Boston. The medicine made Mariana hallucinate and think her ex Nick was after her, leading the teen to run off. Nick was actually in house arrest that time but he broke his anklet when he discovered Mariana was in danger. Jesus mistakenly assumed the worst and confronted Nick, who punched back and knocked Jesus out. Since Jesus is at risk for seizures, he might be facing a potentially life-altering future ahead of him.
Meanwhile, Brandon also had his own share of problems when he was caught taking someone else's SATs. He also sent a break-up letter to his girlfriend Cortney while he was in New York, but it's still unclear if they are officially broken up. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, Paige said Brandon and Cortney's relationship status will be clarified when the program returns. "Yes, in early season 4B, you will see how that all played out," he said.
Freeform has yet to announce a return date for "The Fosters" season 4.
