'The Fosters' season 4 spoilers news: Family returns home after the traumatic school lockdown, more secrets to be revealed

"The Fosters" kicked off its fourth season last Monday with a chilling premiere involving a school shooting, and more interesting episodes are up ahead as new secrets among the family members will be revealed.
To recap, the premiere saw Anchor Beach put on lockdown after Mariana's boyfriend Nick went to the school with a gun. Nick was outraged after seeing Mariana kissing her ex Mat, so he brought a gun without realizing its repercussions. Meanwhile, Callie had to tell her parents about her and Brandon.
After the intense season 4 premiere when Anchor Beach was locked down due to a shooting, the family heads home where more secrets await them. According to the official synopsis for next week's episode 2 titled "Safe," everyone will be cleared to go home, but tensions will still run high in the Adams-Foster household. After the kids underwent such a traumatic event, the family becomes closer than ever, but their secrets continue to keep them emotionally apart. Brandon and Callie are worried about the reaction of their parents about their behavior in Idyllwild, while Stef gives a new rule at home. She instructed the kids to stay off their computers and phones because of the rumors swirling around involving their family. Meanwhile, Brandon goes out of his way to help Courtney move, but Stef eventually discovers that he sneaked out, causing a major blowup between the mother and son.
In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Bradley Bredeweg spoke about Jude's journey to self-discovery. "Look, he's a 13-year-old, and sexuality at 13 is a very complicated thing," Bredeweg explained. "He certainly knows who he is, but he is exploring all sides of that. He had gone through some tragedy, having lost Jack, and the breakup with Connor was a heartbreaking moment for him. So when a 13-year-old boy is going through those kinds of complications and emotions, that boy might tend to step back and say, 'Why are all these bad things happening to me? Why can't I just be what I feel like I am?' We're really interested in exploring that."
As for Brandon and Callie's story arc, viewers can expect the two to deal with more fallout after revealing their relationship. "You know our moms pretty well by now. There is major fallout that has repercussions throughout the entire Season 4A. It very much is a driver and a big part of the season," the EP added.
How will the Adams-Foster family deal with all the rumors? Find out in "The Fosters" season 4 which airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
