Production for Freeform's hit family drama "The Fosters" season 4 has officially begun, and the people behind the show recently shared updates for fans via social media.

Through a Twitter post, creator and executive producer Bradley Bredeweg announced that the production for the second half of "The Fosters" Season 4 started last  Monday, Sept. 26. He also teased fans by posting several images from the production set of the TV drama.

The intense summer finale left off with a lot of problems for the dysfunctional Adams-Foster clan. Callie (Maia Mitchell) found herself in the middle of a tough situation when she rode a car with a possible murderer, while Jesus (Noah Centineo) had to be rushed to the hospital after being hit in the head. It was also a sad moment for Brandon (David Lambert), who discovered that he won't be going to Juilliard after getting caught taking the SAT for someone else, Jude (Hayden Byerly) and his boyfriend started getting hooked on pot, while Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) hallucinated and thought she was being chased by her obsessive ex-boyfriend Nick (Louis Hunter).

In a postmortem interview, executive producer Peter Paige hinted that Mariana will be dealing with the consequences of her decisions in the midseason finale. After taking Jesus' ADHD medication to help her deal with the pressure to do well in school, Mariana experienced a meltdown, which led to her family being worried about her health. "I definitely think Mariana is facing a pretty serious reckoning. I think Mariana and Brandon are the two who are really staring down the consequences of their choices," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"The Fosters" season 4B is expected to premiere in spring 2017 on Freeform, but the network has yet to announce an official release date.
