John Wesley Shipp, the actor who played Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) late father, Henry, and who now also plays Earth-3's version of Jay Garrick, has hinted at a possible Justice Society of America connection between "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow."

In the season 2 finale of "The Flash," fans were pleasantly surprised to find that it was Shipp, who played the titular character in the '90s "The Flash" TV series, who's playing the mystery prisoner in Zoom's (Teddy Sears) dungeon. Known for most of the season as The Man in the Iron Mask, the prisoner turned out to be yet another Jay Garrick version, this time from Earth-3.

The revelation was a particularly emotional moment for Barry, who wasn't expecting to see his father's face once again.

In a post-finale interview with Variety, Shipp revealed that the latest character that he's portraying will be playing a major role in the upcoming third season of The CW's hit superhero series. The actor also said that there are so many different directions the writers could take the character to, including, possibly, future crossovers with the other DC multiverse shows.

According to Shipp, while Henry Allen was a decidedly more "close-ended" role, the possibilities are practically endless for the Earth-3 Jay Garrick.

"The fact that I'm now getting to morph into an entirely different character that is so important to the Justice Society of America, which also bleeds into 'Legends of Tomorrow,' he's such an important character to this whole world – it just opens up enormous possibilities for me as an actor going forward, and the challenge for me, having played Henry, is that I now get to create an entirely different character going forward," he said.

Speaking to E! News shortly after the finale aired, Shipp reiterated the possibility of his version of Jay Garrick visiting the "Legends of Tomorrow."

"They just mentioned that they were going to be doing that on 'Legends,'" he said, adding, "They just announced multiple crossovers."

"The Flash" will return to The CW with its third season later this year.
