'The Flash' season 3 spoilers news: Barry's new contemporary will try to unveil his secret, Candice Patton speaks on Iris' relationship with Barry

The CW's popular superhero series "The Flash" is set to return in the Fall for its third season, and a new character will try to unveil Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) secret identity.
According to TV Line, there is not much detail if the said character will be the season's big bad, but he surely will not make Barry's life easier. He is described as "Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive." The new addition in the cast does not buy Barry's "nice guy" facade so he tries to uncover his hidden alter ego, all while keeping secrets of his own.
Aside from Barry's new contemporary, Caitlin's mother will also be introduced in season 3. Executive producer Andy Kreisberg confirmed this via Entertainment Weekly, saying: "We haven't met Caitlin's mother yet, so we got a little talk between the two women, which is something that will probably play out in Season 3." While being held in captivity by Zoom, she met her Earth 2 doppelganger, Killer Frost. They did not find too much in common with each other, but both their mothers seem to treat them coldly. The appearance of Caitlin's mom will probably shed light on why they did not get along so well.
In terms of Barry's romantic life, fans have been wanting to see him get back with Iris West for a long time now. However, Iris' portrayer Candice Patton is in no hurry to see the two characters back in each other's arms. "I've never needed to see them be together right away," she explained during a Newsweek interview. "I've always been a proponent of letting that stretch out over time, having relationships with other characters...so that when they do get together it's meaningful."
