Barry (Grant Gustin) will do everything in his power to stop Savitar from killing Iris (Candice Patton) on an upcoming episode of The CW's superhero drama "The Flash" season 3.

In a new promo for the show's winter premiere, Barry appears to finally reveal the truth to Iris, who becomes terrified when she learns about her fate. It turns out that Barry has witnessed Iris' death in the near future at Savitar's hands, and Team Flash must race the clock and alter the timeline in an effort to avert the cruel kill.

Having seen the love of his life get slain by his enemy, the Scarlet Speedster will stop at nothing until he makes sure that Iris won't be harmed by Savitar. Series co-showrunner Aaron Helbing recently caught up with  TV Line, and he teased that saving Iris may be Barry's biggest mission this season. "Obviously Barry loves Iris more than anything," he said, "and now that he has gotten a glimpse of the future, the thrust of the back half of the season is Barry trying to do whatever it takes to save her," he went on to say.

On another note, the finale of season 2 saw Hunt "Zoom" Zolomon turning into the Black Flash before the time wraiths pulled him into the Speed Force. However, it might not be the last time viewers will see the nefarious character. Speaking with CBR, actor Teddy Sears teased that the deadly speedster might come back in the future.

"Zoom has been transformed into Black Flash, who has quite a place in the mythology of 'The Flash.' He's like the grim reaper for speedsters," Sears explained, adding, "Andrew Kreisberg, the head writer and EP, has talked about their interest in having a Black Flash return at some point in the series."

Although the actor is very interested in reprising his villainous role in The CW's hit show, he admits that scheduling might make his return a bit far from happening anytime soon. Sears is currently working on Fox's upcoming reboot series "24: Legacy," which is scheduled to air next year.

The third season of "The Flash" returns to the small screen on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
