'The Flash' season 3 spoilers news: Barry to deal with new memories due to 'Flashpoint'

The finale episode of "The Flash" Season 2 have surprised the viewers with the shocking twists and turns. After the finale revealed the harrowing fate of second season's main villain Zoom after committing his crimes against time, Barry (Grant Gustin) made a surprising decision to manipulate the flow of time himself by going back to the past. His personal motives to create a new and better future, however, might have very great consequences. Those consequences will be the main of the CW series' third season.
It was already reported that "The Flash" Season 3 will be using the elements of the Flashpoint miniseries written by Geoff Johns. The original comic book series tells the story of Barry Allen as he goes back in time where he unknowingly changed a lot of things in the past, resulting to a very different timeline at the present. Moreover, the new alternate timeline will see Barry not having his speed force while the rest of the world is "filled with dark, twisted versions of the heroes and villains he knows," Screen Rant reported. Specifically, Barry's intention is only to save his mother from being killed by the Reverse Flash, which was also shown in the TV series' Season 2 finale. It should be expected, however, that things will not go well for Barry as he returns to the new future.
It appears that Barry will be a "living paradox" as he will be the only person aware of the previous version of his timeline. At the same time, the speedster hero will develop new memories of the new timeline he had developed by changing a major event in the past. Entertainment Weekly spilled that "The Flash" will feature this particular element of the Flashpoint comic book arc. Moreover, these new memories that Gustin's character will be having in the third season will fit the alternate version he has created.
"He's starting to have new memories of graduating high school and college, memories he never had with his parents, but those memories are replacing other things from the other timeline," Entertainment Weekly stated.
