'The Flash' season 3 news and updates: Premiere date to happen around October 2016, Grant Gustin hints Barry to be in a 'dark place' next season

The CW's hit superhero series "The Flash" recently ended with a lot of loose ends finally tied, but viewers were still left with a lot more questions in their minds.
Fans will probably see a much different timeline next season, as the show seems to move towards the "Flashpoint" comic book's story. It is written by DC boss Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, and the plot features Barry Allen waking up to realize that everything is backwards — the villains are heroes, the heroes are villains and so on.This came about after Barry tried to go back in time to save his mother Norma. According to reports, this enables Barry to see three different timelines and remember each one.
In The CW's Upfronts red carpet event held last week, lead actor Grant Gustin hinted that as they move forward to the third season, "the timeline will be vulnerable" and it will affect "every relationship in Barry's life."
After such an emotional finale, fans can expect to see the Scarlet Speedster in a vulnerable state, and it will surely affect his personal life and his job as a superhero. However, Gustin does not want to delve into the future yet. "I don't even know how to imagine yet what Season 3 will be like," the actor told Bustle. "I haven't thought about it much, because the end of Season 2 was so emotional for Barry, that I've kind of put it out of my mind for now. We'll see."
Despite all the atrocities that plagued him, Gustin mentioned how his character will try to move forward after the events in season 2. "I think one of the staples for Barry Allen is he's optimistic and he always tries to be optimistic and he always just kind of tries to move forward with his life — and that's what the hero represents," Gustin discussed. "So I don't think he'll lose that, but I think he will be in a pretty... I would imagine the darkest place we've ever seen him when we come back for Season 3."
"The Flash" season 3 airs sometime around October of this year.
