'The Flash' season 3 episode 9 spoilers: Two Flashes team up against Savitar in midseason finale

Earth-3’s Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) drops by to lend a hand in the fight against Savitar (Tobin Bell) in the midseason finale of “The Flash†season 3. | The CW

Now that Barry (Grant Gustin) knows how Flashpoint has affected the timeline on more than just a global scale, he seeks advice and help from the wisdom and strength of someone he trusts in the next episode of "The Flash" season 3.

The holiday spirits come to Central City in the show's midseason finale, but after barely surviving an attempted alien invasion, which he had, apparently, caused, and with the combined threats of Alchemy and Savitar looming over his head, Barry will find it hard to keep his head on the Christmas celebrations, as described in the synopsis for the next episode titled "The Present."

So he comes up with a plan that sends him crossing over to Earth-3 to enlist Jay's (John Wesley Shipp) help in stopping Savitar (Tobin Bell). Will they succeed, or will Savitar prove to be a much bigger threat than the Dominators? Will Wally's (Keiynan Lonsdale) secret training with H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) pay off soon enough for him to lend a hand?

Since it's been teased during the "Heroes v Aliens" four-way crossover event that Flashpoint may have also affected Barry's future with Iris (Candice Patton), fans have begun wondering what could be in store for the two of them. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg shared that the future newspaper, which no longer carried Iris' byline, will have "further complications" as the series progresses. What could these complications be? Has Barry inadvertently cancelled out his destined wedding to Iris in the future?

Moreover, old wounds will be torn open as Cisco (Carlos Valdes) tries to spend his first Christmas after losing his brother, Dante (Nicholas Gonzalez). Will he once again be turning a cold shoulder on his friend Barry, whom he has just forgiven during the crossover event?

Kreisberg has also teased the arrival of another husk villain in the same Entertainment Weekly interview. Could this be a brand-new face or someone Barry has also brushed with in the past?

"The Flash" midseason finale airs on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
