'The Flash' Season 2 Episode 18 spoilers: Zoom's origin revealed

CW's "The Flash" is currently on a short break with episode 18 of season 2 airing on April 19. There will be more time to speculate on the season's main bad guy Zoom and his origins. A teaser for the upcoming episode next month as reported by Yibada features Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash (played by Grant Gustin) and Zoom (played by Teddy Sears), who has finally removed his mask that concealed his real identity for many episodes. Zoom has been recently plaguing both Earth-1 and Earth-2 and threatening the balance of each parallel dimensions, thus putting The Flash in task of stopping Zoom before the villain could finally accomplish his evil plans.

As the episode 18 teaser shows that Barry may be in danger once again in an attempt to bring down Zoom once and for all, there will be more information about the identity of Zoom and where he could have come from. The teaser also reveals that Caitlyn Snow (played by Danielle Panabaker) may be the first person to know the real name of the shady character.

There have been many rumors existing today that try to explain Zoom's abilities. A report from Comicbook suggests that the villain may have acquired his powers after he suffered from an electrocution many years ago.

In the previous episodes, it was revealed that Jay Garrick (played by Teddy Sears) from Earth-1 has an evil counterpart named Hunter Zolomon in Earth-2, also known as Zoom. Barry and his gang thought that Garrick's doppelganger from the other parallel dimension is no other than Zoom himself, and one particular occasion when Zoom tried to kill Garrick made the group realize that the latter's look-alike has been playing a trick on them all along.

Barry has been looking for ways to increase his speed in order to defeat Zoom, and his quest led him to Supergirl's dimension, thus resulting to the recent The Flash and Supergirl crossover.
