CBS' hit DC superhero TV series "Supergirl" has recently made a crossover episode with CW's "The Flash." The hardcore DC comic book fans who were interested to see how Superman's cousin Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and the human with ultra-speed Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) would be working together have given the episode highly satisfactory remarks. Following the great reception from the viewers, many fans are asking whether a second part of the crossover may happen in the future. Moreover, it is worth asking if ever a crossover episode with "Supergirl" will be aired on "The Flash."

The Hollywood Reporter covered the press screening event for "The Flash" and "Supergirl" special crossover episode, and the CW Network executive producer Greg Berlanti shared his insights regarding the recently concluded "Supergirl" episode. He stated that the events in the crossover episode will have an impact to the actual "The Flash" series in some way. To recap, Barry who presently has the ability to travel through time has ultimately found a way to be in an alternate universe where Supergirl's Earth lies.

"They flip order, obviously, because this will air Monday and 'The Flash' one that sort of hints at how he gets over there and gets back airs on Tuesday... The audience has to forgive us because one has to air before the other, but they shouldn't wait to watch 'Supergirl' until after 'The Flash' episode," Berlanti said.

Berlanti was also asked if another crossover episode will happen but with Supergirl's Kara Danvers visiting Barry Allen's universe this time around.

"We would love that... We're waiting to see the audience's reaction from something like this," he answered.

In a separate interview of Berlanti with Variety, he revealed that his team has always hoped of doing crossovers between The CW shows and "Supergirl." However, it will not be that easy to accomplish since "Supergirl" is airing on a different network, CBS. Other CW shows that feature popular DC characters include "The Green Arrow" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

"From the day we cast Melissa, the notion of her in scenes with Grant — or someday maybe in the best of all worlds with Stephen (Amell, who plays the protagonist Oliver Queen in 'Green Arrow') as well, it's exciting to think of them on screen together. There was a tonality to the shows. But a few things definitely had to go right – we were introducing this notion of Earth-2 and the multiverse on 'Flash,' and that had to work," Berlanti revealed.

He added that both Superman and Supergirl do not exist in the same plane as "The Flash" which would make a crossover challenging. It was also noted that the shows exist in separate networks and shooting a crossover episode will be "not so convenient" as there are "two separate cities that they shoot in."
