"The Fall," which garnered a lot of praise during its first season, has seen fewer murders being committed by its serial killer in its second season.

However, the hunt to capture the killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan) is on after Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) finally uncovered his true identity in the second episode.

"The Fall," which has aired three episodes in its second season, is quickly approaching its season finale which is going to run for 90 minutes when it airs on Dec. 18 on BBC Two.

In the first episode of the season, Spector returned to Belfast to deal with his former girlfriend Rose Stagg (Valene Kane). However, he did not kill Stagg but instead kidnapped her and drove her to an abandoned building. Later on in the episode when Gibson left a voice message on Stagg's phone, Spector realized that she had been cooperating with the police all along and had provided them with his sketch.

Spector then called Gibson, who by then had correctly surmised that he had Stagg and had finally collected DNA evidence from the garden shears that point to him as the serial killer.

The third episode which recently aired saw Spector brainwashing Katie (Aisling Franciosi) after he left her tied up in his bed in the previous episode. In the third episode, he convinced Katie that he was not a serial killer, and even got her to believe that he was tormenting Gibson for fun and that nothing else was going on.

As for Gibson, the end of the third episode saw her share a kiss with Reed (Archie Panjabi) while Spector gained entry into her hotel room. As he waited for her, he checked her underwear and went through the notes in her diary.

However, Spector's plans for Gibson were interrupted as her boss made a pass on her and she smashed his nose. Later, Gibson discovered that Spector had been in her room. He had changed the screen saver on her computer, using a scary image. She also found out that he had written on her diary these words: "Oh, Stella Gibson, how well I know you now..."
