'The Elder Scrolls VI' release date rumors: Development has yet to start, executive says
When the open world action role-playing video game, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," was released almost five years ago, it was a massive hit that people immediately started to think of the next installment. However, despite the hype it got created by many fans and critics, game developer Bethesda has yet to officially announce its existence.
Nonetheless, the marketing executive of Bethesda Pete Hines has recently stated in a Twitter post that the game's next installment is definitely going to happen; unfortunately, the development has yet to start.
During his recent interview with MMORPG, Hines said that the development of "The Elder Scrolls VI" will be decided by the whole team. As of the moment, the company is currently focusing on other projects.
"This studio [Bethesda Game Studios] is not a vending machine," Hines said. "They're not a two-button vending machine; where first we press Elder Scrolls and then we press Fallout, and then we press Elder Scrolls and then we press Fallout...They're an incredibly talented studio of creative people. They've now made four games in a row, all of which were named Game of the Year, and they have a right to decide what they're interested in working on next and which direction they want to go."
The executive added that game director Todd Howard and his team have the right to suggest which project they are going to work next. Apparently, "The Elder Scrolls VI" is not the one they have in mind. As of the moment, Bethesda is currently exploring other projects as the company is giving their people the right to try other things out.
"We're exploring some things [in VR]. We'll see where that heads," Hines revealed. "We don't want to talk about it quite yet until we've figured some things out."
As of the moment, Bethesda has yet to provide concrete details with regard to "The Elder Scrolls VI." However, many fans are positive that the company will soon make an official announcement.
