Warner Bros and New Line Cinema are placing high hopes on "The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Poltergeist," the sequel to the 2013 hit movie which earned about $318 million from its worldwide release despite a modest $20 million budget.
The movie is due for release on June 10, 2016. A spinoff from the original "Conjuring," titled "Annabelle," has been released and gone on to do brisk business.

"The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Poltergeist" again stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Upon release it will be pitted against films such as Lionsgate's sequel to "Now You See Me" and Sony's game-based movie "Uncharted."
"The Conjuring" saw Wilson and Farmiga playing the role of a married couple. They were demonologists who were trying to save a family living inside a house possessed by the ghost of a witch who killed herself after sacrificing her child to the devil. The movie itself is loosely based on the life of Ed and Lorraine Warren who worked as demonologists.
"The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Poltergeist" will be directed by James Wan, who is also currently working on "Furious 7," the latest film in the "Fast and Furious" film franchise. Wan, who has a long history working on horror movies, is a welcome addition to the film. The Hollywood Reporter says it expects Wan create enthusiasm among fans.
Among other films that Wan has directed are: "Insidious," "Insidious: Chapter 2" and the original "The Conjuring."
Cinemablend notes that "The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Poltergeist" will be based on the true story of Margaret Hodgson and her four children aged 7-13. After her divorce, her children complained that their beds shook at night and other objects started floating around. She soon began to suspect that her children were haunted. The Warrens were among a number of ghost hunters that investigated the case.
