The season 3 finale of "The Blacklist" crushed many hearts with the shocking death of Liz (Megan Boone), leaving a child and a husband behind. However, speculations are rife that Liz might have just faked her death for reasons only she knows and might be revealed in "The Blacklist" season 4.

Movie News Guide said that Liz' fake death could make the series even more interesting than the previous three seasons especially since so many questions about the identity of her character still needs to be answered. Season 3 could show viewers how the secrets about Liz' life, her origin, and family start to unravel.

Recently, showrunners Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath might have confirmed Liz' return on season 4 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"She doesn't know what has happened to either Tom or her child, so she's concerned about her family, and she's terrified that the fantasy life that she had hoped to carve out with Tom by faking her death is destroyed," Eisendrath said.

In season 3's finale, fans saw Alexander Kirk telling Liz that he is actually Constantine Rostova, her biological father. Whether he was telling the truth or not could be revealed in "The Blacklist" season 4. Some are likewise speculating that this angle of the story could be one of the reasons why Liz faked her death. Season 4 is expected to reveal the true connection between Red, Liz, and Kirk.

Meanwhile, The Bitbag reported that Red and Liz' relationship could go deeper and stronger this new season. It would be recalled that Liz has rejected Red several times already, but Red's in too deep already, so he would apparently wait until Liz returns his feelings.

On the other hand, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) would reportedly end his affair with Liz in the fourth season. Nevertheless, he would continue playing the "fake" husband until the mid-season.

"The Blacklist" season 4 will be returning to NBC this fall.
