'The Blacklist' season 4 news, updates and spoilers: EP teases what's in store for next season after the huge plot twist involving Liz

NBC's hit crime thriller series "The Blacklist" is definitely not for the faint of heart. The show recently ended its third season with a huge plot twist, revealing that the presumed-to-be-dead character Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) is actually alive. Good news is that the series has been renewed for a fourth season, and fans need not worry about not having to see what happens next.

Creator and executive producer Jon Bokenkamp recently caught up with The Wall Street Journal, and he hinted how he plans season 4 to play out without giving away too much details. "Well, all I know for sure is that it will continue to evolve... I guess, personally, I'm more interested in the characters and how they're changing than I am in telling an episodic story about bad guys," he explained."I think the character development of our ensemble is the greatest success in season 3.

"Ressler stepped up and ran the task force and keep this morality, Samar worked more closely with Reddington. Cooper started to arc darker and has his own marital problems, and Aram got out from behind the computer in a big way. I think seeing all of these characters develop was really wonderful. This is still Red and Liz's story, but we've got a stable of incredible actors that I think we've finally just tapped into. Season 4 is going to expand that canvas."

Liz and Red's (James Spader) unconventional partnership became one of the highlights of the show since day one. Viewers expect to see next season how their dynamic will be changed after Liz tries to break free from Red. What happens after Liz faked her death, and now that she's on the run will most likely be the focus of season 4.

As of the moment, the network has yet to announce an official release date for "The Blacklist" season 4.
