'The Blacklist: Redemption' spoilers and updates: Tom Keen joins forces with his mother Scottie Halsted, embarks on a secret mission to know more about his past

Due to the success of hit crime thriller drama "The Blacklist," NBC has recently picked up a season order for an upcoming spin-off series titled "The Blacklist: Redemption."
The cast of characters will be headlined by Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) and his mother Susan "Scottie" Hargrave (Famke Janssen).

As noted by Deadline, the plot will focus on Tom as he joins forces with Scottie who is the "brilliant and cunning" head of a company called Grey Matters. The said organization's main goal is to solve problems which the government would prefer not to touch. According to the series description, the story picks up after Tom discovers that Scottie is his biological mother while he is searching for Liz's attacker. His team up with his mother will see the duo "employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals".

While they continue with their mission, Tom secretly begins his quest to know more about his mysterious past. Tom and Scottie's relationship is somewhat similar to Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) and Elizabeth Keen's (Megan Boone) from the original series. Along with the two lead actors, Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress will also be in the new show as Matias Solomon and Nez Rowan. Behind the camera, Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath are in charge as executive producers and writers. John Fox and John Davis will also serve as EPs while Michael Dinner is the director.

It remains to be seen how the two shows will be interconnected, specially if they both end up on next year's Fall schedule. Hopefully, the original series will find a way to make Tom's transition seamless. As of now, the network has yet to announce an official premiere date for the freshman run of "The Blacklist: Redemption." While fans await the premiere, the fourth season of "The Blacklist" is expected to air sometime in the Fall of this year.
