'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 spoilers: Tensions run high when Penny's mother and brother arrives; series to feature 'The Flash'-inspired episode

Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) formal wedding is one of the most-awaited highlights of "The Big Bang Theory" season 10, and the series will finally introduce Penny's mother and brother on the special event.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, the arrival of Penny's never-before-seen family members will not be a reunion everyone expects. They will only appear in the premiere, but executive producer Steve Molaro assured fans that it will reveal more about the conflict in Penny's family.

"Penny's close with her dad," he explained. "As we know, her brother Randall has been a bit of trouble over the years, selling drugs and being in and out of jail, and that's put a lot of stress on her mom. You will pick up on the tensions between her mother and her brother very quickly, and you get a glimpse of Penny and her dad being caught in the middle of that."

Meanwhile, season 10 might also feature the gang as they meet the fastest man alive. Brandon Jones, whose most recent acting gig was the recurring role of Andrew in Freeform drama "Pretty Little Liars," has been confirmed to guest star in an upcoming episode of the hit CBS sitcom. In a recent Twitter post, actress Mayim Bialik thanked Jones for his "'flash-y guest spot." She also mentioned that he "feels comfortable in latex" in an Instagram post which hints that Jones will be portraying The Flash for one episode.

Penny's mother will be portrayed by Cuoco's "8 Simple Rules" on-screen mom Katey Sagal and her trouble-maker brother will be played by "30 Rock" actor Jack McBrayer. Also joining the season 10 for a guest role is "Breaking Bad" star Dean Norris as an Air Force representative who is interested in using the boys' quantum gyroscope project for military purposes. "Dexter" and "Madam Secretary" star Keith Carradine will reprise his role as Penny's father.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 10 premieres on Monday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
