'The Banner Saga 2' release date update: Sequel arriving in July; third installment in the works?

"The Banner Saga 2" players can finally breathe now following the announcement of the independent game development company, Stoic Studio, to release the game on console on July 26.
The tactical role-playing video game has been a subject of numerous speculations after its initial release on Microsoft Windows and OS X on April 19. Now that it finally has a solid release date, many fans could not wait to get a copy of it.
"We are happy that we were able to create a development schedule where the console version of Banner Saga 2 could come out shortly after the PC version," Stoic's Technical Director John Watson revealed in a report by Gamasutra. "Although our team size dictated what we could do with the first release, we knew that a two-year wait for the sequel was just not acceptable, so we worked extremely hard to ensure that console gamers could continue their journey in a timely fashion. Our goal for Banner Saga 3 is to simultaneously ship on all platforms!"
Watson added that the release of the second installment has continued to build on the legacy the company has started with the original "The Banner Saga." He stressed out that new players who did not have the opportunity to play the original game can jump right in and start with the sequel.
Fans are definitely happy that the game developer decided to release the console version of the current game in just a few months after its initial release. During the release of the original title, it took a long time for the company to roll out the game on console which has disappointed many players.
The company also said that they have already started planning on the next installment of the series, which they said will be available on all platforms at the same time.
"The Banner Saga 2" is currently available for Mac and Windows PC via Steam. Players who wish to buy a copy can get the game for $19.99.
