Season 2 left off with a shocking finale after Helen (Maura Tierney) hit Scott (Colin Donnell) with her car — instantly killing him. It was later revealed that Alison (Ruth Wilson) actually pushed Scott into the car's path before Helen hit him, which made both ladies responsible for his death. To protect the two important women in his life, Noah (Dominic West) took the fall for Helen and Alison during the trial.

Speaking with Express, Tierney shared hints on how the upcoming season will play out for the three main characters. "Nobody's in the clear in season three," she said, adding, "Every season it's about the consequences of the choices made in the previous season, so it's going to be tricky for everyone in season 3."

Part of the complication will be the introduction of a new love interest for Noah. French actress Irène Jacob has been recently cast to portray a character named Juliette Le Gall, a woman who becomes Noah's new flame. Aside from hiding secrets of her own, Juliette will help Noah deal with traumatic events from his past while having a deeper understanding of himself.

Even though Juliette's introduction seems to suggest that Noah cheated on Alison, Tierney said it might not be the case because there will be a time jump when season 3 kicks off. "When Season 3 starts it's three years later, so quite a bit of time has passed," she told Entertainment Weekly. "We go back and forth—sometimes it's a year-and-a-half later, sometimes it's three years later. So everyone has moved on quite a bit, and Helen's in a new relationship and Noah is sort of beginning a new relationship," she added.

Production is in full swing and the show is currently filming scenes in New York.

Catch the season 3 premiere of Showtime's "The Affair" on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 10 p.m. EDT.
