'The Affair' season 3 spoilers, air date, news: First teaser promises more fighting and cheating; Irene Jacob debuts as Noah's new love interest

Showtime's riveting drama "The Affair" is all set to premiere next month, and the first trailer for the program's upcoming third season promises more cheating and chaos involving the four main characters.

In the latest trailer released for the Showtime drama's anticipated third installment, the relationships between Noah (Dominic West), Alison (Ruth Wilson), Helen (Maura Tierney) and Cole (Joshua Jackson) become even more complicated.

For the uninitiated, season 3 kicks off with a three-year time jump, featuring the events after admitted that he is guilty of the murder of Cole's brother, Scotty Lockhart. The clip shows that Noah is still serving jail time for committing a crime that was done by his former wife Helen.

The teaser shows Helen insisting that Noah isn't necessarily guilty just because he was incarcerated. Her daughter ,Whitney (Julia Goldani Telles), then tells her, "Mom, for God's sake, the only person who didn't think he did it is you." It was also revealed that Noah finally gets out of jail after three years, but the novelist soon realizes that the damage brought by his past decisions are now coming back to haunt him. Alison continues to struggle after the death of her child, while Cole has finally moved on and is now married to Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno).

Season 2 wrapped up with the revelation that it was indeed Helen who killed Scott by driving drunk with Noah in the passenger seat. Walking along the side of the road that time was Alison, who pushed Scott into oncoming traffic while they were arguing. Noah ended up taking the fall for the two significant women in his life.

During its freshman run, "The Affair " won a Golden Globe for Best Drama in 2015 and the Best Actress for Wilson. For the show's second installment, Tierney won in the Supporting Actress category.

The third season of "The Affair" premieres on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
