An inevitable nuclear apocalypse looms as fans anticipate what will happen next in season 4 of "The 100." As the world inches closer to a global catastrophe, reports offer clues as to what some characters will do following in a post-apocalyptic environment.

Per Inquisitr report, "The 100" season 4 executive producer Jason Rothenberg has just stated that the nuclear apocalypse is fated to happen as far as the show's plot line is concerned. Within six months, the world as people know it will cease to exist. As a refresher, Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) was told by the artificial intelligence that 96 percent of the planet will no longer be viable for human existence. While some characters try to make sense of what is going to happen, others have come to embrace the new reality and try to spend their remaining time in the most productive way they can.

"Once this thing lands in their lives as a reality—that they're all going to die in six months—we will see some people say, 'You know what, enough fighting, I just want to live life to its fullest,' and those people will sing," teased Rothenberg in a Zap2It interview.

As for the characters, no major change is expected to happen to Murphy (Richard Harmon). Monty Green (Christopher Larkin), on the other hand, will be more romantically entangled with Harper McIntyre (Chelsey Reist) following a one-night stand. Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropolous) will reportedly transform into an assassin in the upcoming "The 100" season 4 per TVLine interview. Lastly, Clarke may still continue with her mediator role as she faces moral dilemma in her decision to choose who gets saved and what not.

Meanwhile, the impending nuclear disaster will reportedly bring different groups together as they brush aside their fundamental differences as they work together for collective survival. During last July's Comic-Con, "The 100" cast member Zach McGowan (King Roan) offered clues of a potential peace-building measures between competing groups in the face of a common apocalyptic threat.

"Whether or not they can find common ground and work together will be really important as to whether or not there'll be peace within this world. And whether we can come together and overcome larger challenges together remains to be seen," said McGowan per Enstarz report.

So far, no date has been confirmed for the release but some reports indicate an early 2017 premiere.
