The Texas teen who was suspended earlier this year for bringing a homemade clock to school will reportedly be moving to Qatar with his family.

Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old who made headlines in the summer after he was led out of his high school in handcuffs for bringing a homemade clock on campus, will reportedly be moving to Qatar.

Mohamed's father withdrew his son from MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas after he was suspended for bringing the clock to school.

The boy's family said in an announcement this week that they will be moving to Qatar so Mohamed may attend the QF Young Innovators Program.

"After careful consideration of all the generous offers received, we would like to announce that we have accepted a kind offer from Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) for Ahmed to join the prestigious QF Young Innovators Program, which reflects the organization's on-going dedication to empowering young people and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity," the family announced this week.

The announcement of Mohamed's move comes just one day after the 14-year-old boy met U.S. President Barack Obama while attending the White House's Astronomy Night in Washington, D.C.

Photos from the brief meeting show the president shaking hands with a beaming Mohamed.

The teen took to social media after the encounter to share his excitement, writing: "SO HAPPY, I CANT BELIEVE THAT I MET THE #president of THE #UNITEDSTATES!!!"
