Texas Sen. Ted Cruz Says Media Turned Him Into 'Freddy Krueger'

Texas Senator Ted Cruz recently appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" to discuss a recent viral video showing a conversation he had with a three-year-old fan during a speech in New Hampshire.

Cruz told Meyers on a recent airing of his "Late Night" show that the media turned him into "Freddy Krueger" regarding his recent interaction with a three-year-old fan during a speech in New Hampshire.

"In the last 24 hours there have been 50 media stories that say 'Cruz terrifies little girl.' By the end of it, I was Freddy Krueger, I had the fingernails. I mean, it was terrible," Cruz told Meyers.

The video, which was released last week, shows Cruz, a possible 2016 presidential contender, speaking at an event for Republicans in Barrington, New Hampshire when he told the crowd that the "world is on fire," referencing his disapproval with the Obama administration's foreign policy.

After his statement, a three-year-old sitting in the front row asked Cruz "the world is on fire?"

"The world is on fire, yes," Cruz said, turning to the girl. "Your world is on fire."

"But you know what?" Cruz continued. "Your mommy's here and everyone's here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better."

Meyers responded to Cruz by saying that he hopes the little girl got ice cream on her way home after seeing the politician speak.

"I think, in the end, that girl's problem isn't anything more than her mother doesn't know what 3-year-olds like to do on a Saturday," he said. "I hope she got ice cream on the way there and the way home."
