A new "Terminator" movie vastly different from its predecessors will hit the big screen on July 1, 2015.

Called "Terminator: Genisys," the film will again see Arnold Schwarzenegger playing the role of the Terminator. However, two leading characters in the Terminator series will be played by new actors -- Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese and Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor.

The upcoming terminator film, which commenced filming last April, is seen as an attempt to reboot the franchise with a slew of new actors and a modern plot.

Entertainment Weekly provided more details about the plot last month in an exclusive article. It noted that the movie will see Sara Connor's family being killed by a Terminator when she was nine years old. She was then raised by an older T-800 model Terminator played by Schwarzenegger.

The plot therefore will be significantly different from the stories which were spun in the first two Terminator films directed by James Cameron. In those films, Sarah Connor only came face to face with the Terminator when she was already an adult and was rescued by Kyle Reese.

As for the rest of the plot the movie will see less nuclear holocaust and more about Skynet using modern technology to attack and take over the world.

With the plot messing with the first two films in the franchise, fans have expressed their ire at the changes. They noted one scene where Emilia Clarke called the Terminator "pops." They said this could result in the film becoming a comedy.

"Terminator: Genisys" is being helmed by Alan Taylor who previously worked on "Thor: The Dark World." The script for the film was written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film will attempt to take the best elements from the original two films, including the shot of the Terminator arriving naked in Griffith Observatory, and recreate them.

The changed spelling of "Genesis" is another method by which the makers of the film are attempting to show that the movie has been "tweaked" substantially but will still incorporate many familiar elements from the first two iconic Terminator movies.
