Bandai Namco Entertainment, game developer behind the "Tekken" game series, has just announced that "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" would have its Xbox One and PC (via Steam) versions available by early 2017. A PlayStation 4 version has also been announced, but no definite release date was confirmed.

The announcement was made by no less than Katsuhiro Harada, game director for Bandai, and Michael Murray, "Tekken's" game designer, during Microsoft's presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 last June 13 at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.

Harada shared that an all-new story mode will be featured in the upcoming game, one that will seamlessly flow from fight-blended cinematic action scenes to in-game fighting. The new installment would boast of further enhancements to ensure utmost gaming experience for players, including photo-realistic visuals, new creative features, and dynamic fighting mechanics.

GameSpot reported that the "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" trailer shown at E3 featured Akuma, a villain from "Street Fighter," in a brawl with "Tekken's" main man Heihachi Mishima. Akuma's appearance is apparently prompted by a promise he made to Kazumi Mishima that needs to be fulfilled. This bit hints at a possible crossover between two popular game titles, a first for both.

Incidentally, "Tekken 7" will be the last chapter of the Mishima blood saga. The game will show Mishima Clan members finally putting an end to their family feud that has spanned 20 years. Members of the clan will try to seize control of a giant empire while dealing with old issues and enemies, thereby putting the world at risk.

The game will feature more than 30 playable characters, old and new, with each one possessing special moves, combos, and martial art techniques. Classic one-on-one battles, all-new moves, and battle mechanics will also be featured.

"Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" would be powered by Unreal Engine 4, which, according to Gematsu, would present the game in a way unlike any other. State-of-the-art graphics that would give an entirely new perspective to the characters will be highlighted all throughout gameplay.

Apart from announcing the release date, Harada and Murray likewise revealed the Xbox Live Gold members would have the chance to receive a free copy of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 via backward compatibility beginning mid-June 2016.

More updates and details on "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" are expected in the coming days, and fans are hoping Bandai Namco would confirm cross-play capabilities for the game, too. Meanwhile, check out the 2-minute trailer shown at the E3 2016 below.
