Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran News: What Advice Did Swift and Others Give?
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is undoubtedly making a name in the industry, with over 1.5 million copies sold for his album 'X' (read as "multiply"). His songs have topped U.K. and U.S. charts and his career seems to be taking off.
In an interview with Juju Chang of ABC News, Sheeran said, "The same thing Taylor said to me was the same thing Pharrell said, same thing Chris Martin said, is just the same thing: Constant humility, constant evolution and be a sponge, soak up your influences."
Sheeran has gone a long way, from being a guitar guy who appears in just small gigs, to someone now who performs solo in venues such as New York's Madison Square Garden.
The 23-year old said, "I don't really think there's pressure when people have come to see you because they want to be entertained. They're not expecting to be impressed. They come to be like, 'We like your music, play it for us,' rather than, 'We've never heard of you, show us what you can do.'"
Sheeran believes that what makes him different from other artists is the honesty in his music. Most of his songs are about falling in love and getting hurt through the process.
"I think it's nice to get something positive out of a bad situation," Sheeran said. "I'd say that's the way I'd look at it. I'm not trying to be bitter in any way. I just wanted to get something good out of that situation."
