'Tales from the Crypt' reboot news: new Crypt Keeper, first season story line and scheduled fall release?

Famous American horror anthology series "Tales from the Crypt" is confirmed to be making its much-awaited comeback. The '90s cult classic TV series reboot will be released by TNT, with polarizing film director M. Night. Shyamalan as executive producer.
Unlike the original HBO adaptation's weekly anthology that ran from June 10, 1989, to July 19, 1996, the new series will feature one story line per season. No word yet on the confirmed release date, but speculations say that a fall premiere is underway. The first season of the show spanning 13 episodes will focus on voodoo, with New Orleans as the setting.
Fans of the original show would remember the Crypt Keeper, a skeleton voiced by John Kassir who has an "arsenal of puns and a wicked cackle" as he introduces and ends every episode. However, it turns out that viewers will be seeing the well-known character in a new light since it can't be acquired by TNT because HBO owns the rights. According to a report by Bloody Disgusting, the reboot's storyteller is described as "an old man with a cane, wearing a hood, and keeping warm by a fireplace." This fits the character from William Gaines's original EC Comics where the show will be based upon. This is contrary to the notion that it will be following the steps of the previous HBO series of the same title.
TNT president Kevin Reilly recently had an executive session at the Television Critics Association in Pasadena, California where he talked about the company's upcoming two-hour block of suspense and terror-themed programs."It is an umbrella for what hopefully will be many shows," Reilly said. "We're going to put a variety of different genre shows, some of which may have a weird sense of humor, some of which may be actually downright frightening, some of which may be a unique blend of genres, but all united under the 'Tales From the Crypt' brand. Night is definitely going to direct, most likely the first one, and we'll see how that evolves," he stated as reported by Variety.
There's no telling when TNT's Tales from the Crypt will hit TV screens, but a date near Halloween is expected by fans of the show.
