Suspected Boko Haram Suicide Bomber Kills 48 Students In Nigeria

A suicide bomber disguised as a student reportedly killed 48 students during a morning assembly at a high school in Yobe state, Nigeria on Monday, survivors confirm.
The explosives were reportedly detonated at around 7:30 a.m., when nearly 2,000 students gathered in the auditorium at the Government Technical Science College in the city of Potiskum for a weekly meeting. The explosion reportedly left a grisly scene of blood and body parts, and several local people are blaming the extremist Boko Haram terror group for the recent attack.
"We were waiting for the principal to address us, around 7:30 a.m., when we heard a deafening sound and I was blown off my feet, people started screaming and running, I saw blood all over my body," 17-year-old student Musa Ibrahim Yahaya, who witnessed the explosion, told the Associated Press.
Along with witness accounts, a morgue attendant also confirmed to the Associated Press that about 48 deceased bodies were brought to the local hospital before being transferred to the morgue.
Police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu confirmed to CNN that the local government believes Boko Haram is behind the attack. Just last week, the terrorist group was suspected of killing 30 people in a suicide bombing in the same city during a religious procession.
"We suspect Boko Haram is behind the attack," Ojukwu told CNN.
Another student, Adamu Ibrahim, also recalled the attack to the media outlet, saying: "We were waiting for our teachers to come and address us at the assembly ground when we heard a huge explosion."
