The suspect accused of abduction and intent to defile in the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham has also been indicted in a 2005 case involving a rape, abduction and attempted murder.

32-year-old Jesse Matthew, a hospital worker, has been held in Charlottesville, Virginia awaiting more news on the disappearance of Graham, for which he is currently being held. The new charges involving the 2005 rape case were decided upon on Monday by a grand jury in Fairfax County.

Very little information is being released on Matthew's recent case, but according to WUSA-TV, Matthew was indicted for sexual penetration with an object, kidnapping, and attempted capital murder of a 26-year-old woman on Sept. 24, 2005.

Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Morrogh said he would not elaborate on Matthew's new charges "because it is essential to protect the integrity" of the case.

"There are very few details I can give on the case," he added.

Matthew's new charge comes after searchers discovered human remains and a pair of tight black pants about eight miles from where 18-year-old University of Virginia student Hannah Graham went missing on Sept. 13.

Police officials have not confirmed if the remains are Graham's, but they did reportedly notify Graham's parents of the find ahead of announcing it to the public, and her case has been re-branded as a "death investigation."

"Right now we have the discovery of human remains and a great deal of work ahead of us," Col. Steve Sellers, Albemarle County Police chief, said in a statement. "We cannot and will not jump to any conclusions regarding today's discovery. I ask for the public's patience as we move forward and pursue what is now a new, ongoing death investigation."
