'Survivor's Remorse' news, updates: Starz greenlights early season renewal for LeBron James-produced series

Starz's comedy series "Survivor's Remorse" is still a month away from its season 3 finale, but the network recently greenlit an early renewal for the LeBron James-produced program.

The program is currently airing its third season on Starz, with three episodes left before it wraps up later next month. Due to its good ratings performance, the premium cabler decided to give a fourth season to the fan-favorite series. Viewership for season 3 has subsequently increased 20 percent from the second season and 60 from the first. To date, the show is clocking in an average of 2.9 million viewers for every episode across all media platforms.

In a press statement, James expressed his gratitude for fans who have been following and supporting the series since it premiered back in 2014. "I'm incredibly proud of the team at ;Survivor's Remorse; and what we've built.," he said. "The show grew so much this year, attracting new fans and reaching new levels of popularity. I want to thank all the fans who've made ;Survivor's Remorse; a success and the team at Starz for all of their support."

Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik also gave a statement on the renewal, pointing out how critics dubbed the series as "smartest and funniest comedies on television." She also praised co-executive producer Mike O'Malley and the writers because they were able to tackle today's most pressing issues "with such a deft touch that nothing ever feels heavy-handed."

"Survivor's Remorse" centers on a young and hard-working basketball star named Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher). His life takes a huge turn when he is thrust into the limelight after signing a contract to join a professional basketball team in Atlanta. Season 3 is currently airing on Starz and it features how fame and fortune can't protect Cam from any tragedy. After Uncle Julius' (Mike Epps) unfortunate accident, the members of the Calloway family are still coping with his death. Other cast members include RonReaco Lee, Tichina Arnold, Teyonah Parris and Erica Ash.
