Fans of Microsoft's flagship line of hybrid laptops have been waiting for a new updated version of the Surface Pro. There were reports that the Surface Pro 5 will be released sometime this year and feature a lot of upgrades from its predecessor, the Surface Pro 4. The Surface Pro 4 itself is such a powerful device and many think that this Microsoft laptop is the one to beat, therefore, Surface Pro 5 must be a whole lot more innovated. However, according to the latest rumors, it seems like Microsoft's own product will cause the delay of Surface Pro 5's release.

According to the Yibada website, there are speculations that Surface Pro 4 has grown into a very successful and steady profit-maker for Microsoft Corporation. It has been doing very well even after several months when the hybrid device was first released. If Microsoft will push through with an all-new Surface Pro 5 this year, it may affect the good sales that both the Surface Pro 4 line and the company itself are enjoying. With that in mind, Microsoft is rumored to delay the launching of Surface Pro 5 into mid or late 2017. This would be a huge letdown for those tech enthusiasts who have waited for a new generation Surface Pro. However, the extended period to develop Surface Pro 5 can be used by the company to make sure that their new product can match or even surpass the high standard set by Surface Pro 4.

The earlier reports said that the Surface Pro 5 will be launched either June or October this year. This is due to Surface Pro 4 being released in October 2015 and the public assumption is that Microsoft will follow their usual schedule of launching every year, thus the October 2016 Surface Pro 5 release seemed likely.

There are also other rumors that explain the reason for delay of the Surface Pro 5. According to Anand Tech website, Microsoft is rumored to be using Intel Kaby Lake processor for the upcoming Surface Pro device. However, this new generation Intel processor is still due to arrive late in 2016, therefore Microsoft will have to delay the release of Surface Pro 5. This rumor is different from the earlier speculations that the Surface Pro 5 will have Intel Skylake processor. Kaby Lake seems to be a good choice as well because it is said to enhance the laptop's productivity and boost its battery life to an extended period of use.

Aside from the possible Intel Kaby Lake or Skylake processor for Surface Pro 5, other reported new specs features of the anticipated laptop are the larger 13.3-inch screen display with 4K resolution, brand new rechargable stylus, fingerprint scanner, prolonged battery life, and a pre-installed Windows 10 Redstone OS.
