'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers, cast news: Misha Collins hints new character to join cast, series to be led by new showrunners

Jared Padalecki as Sam and Jensen Ackles as Dean in \"Supernatural\" | The CW

"Supernatural" is all set to return for its 12th season in the Fall, and viewers will once again see the Winchester brothers Sam and Dean with fan-favorite character Castiel with more action-packed episodes. Season 11 left off with a huge cliffhanger as Sam's fate hangs in the balance, and fans can only hope that the October premiere is just around the corner.

In an interview with Bustle, Castiel's portrayer Misha Collins admitted that he has no clue on how the new season plays out, but he confirmed that a new face will be on board. "I know one casting thing," the actor said. "I know one person who's been hired in Season 12, but I can't tell you. I'm sorry to be completely useless there, but I do know that their character is going to be on the show."

Amara might be out of the picture for now, but Sam and Dean's problems are definitely far from over. Lead star Jared Padalecki explained that he is also in the dark just like all the fans, which makes perfect sense since filming hasn't started yet. "Y'all know bout the show exactly what we know about the show," the actor discussed during Creation Entertainment's Salute to Supernatural in Phoenix. "During the year, that doesn't exist. During the year, we know what's going on; we know five storylines ahead, seven storylines ahead."

If one thing is for sure, season 12 might feel and look different as new showrunners Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb will take the place of Jeremy Carver. According to TV  Line, Carver left the show to focus on The CW's upcoming thriller drama pilot titled "Frequency."
