"Supernatural" season 12 continues this January, and the question of whether Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will quit hunting is still up in the air. Meanwhile, David Haydn-Jones has been cast to play Mr. Ketch who will be lending a hand in the Winchesters' attempt to escape.

Season 12 returns this Thursday with episode 9 titled "First Blood." It will feature Sam and Dean still imprisoned after being captured by the secret service for attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, who was being used by Lucifer (Rick Springfield) as his vessel.

It seems that the Winchesters never run out of reasons to save the world, but executive producer Andrew Dabb shared with Entertainment Weekly that the two still think about what should happen next with their lives.

"For a long time, their futures were based on each other. Would Sam stay a hunter, would he go back out of the life? Would Dean take a step back and retire or leave hunting? ... I don't think either one of them realistically looks at a world where they step away from this. That time has passed to a large degree," Dabb explained.

The showrunner added that although brothers Sam and Dean agree that hunting will always be a part of their lives, they see the end game differently.

Dean envisions himself fighting to make the world a better place until he dies. Meanwhile, Sam sees a life where all their hunting will pay off and "they can take a step back from hunting" while also getting "a little bit more time to themselves." It looks like it will take a long time before Sam and Dean finally settle down.

Dabb stated that the central theme for season 12 is that everybody is trying to find their own place and that they are looking for ways to do their best in the world, even if it permits them to do otherwise.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Haydn-Jones has been cast as Mr. Ketch, an associate of the British Men of Letters.

Mr. Ketch is described as "suave, handsome, totally competent – and a sociopath."

It is anticipated that the British Men of Letters will be lending a hand to help free Sam and Dean from the secret service, but given Mr. Ketch's character, could he betray them at the last minute?

"Supernatural" season 12 returns on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
