'Supergirl' Season 2 spoilers: 'Wonder Woman' actress Lynda Carter to join series

"Wonder Woman" actress Lynda Carter will be joining Supergirl in National City for the second season of CBS TV series "Supergirl."
After the recent special screening of the Flash-Supergirl crossover, Entertainment Weekly caught up with "Supergirl" executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti and they discussed their plans on having Lynda Carter on the superhero series.
"We had the perfect role for Lynda Carter," Berlanti said. However, Carter's schedule did not seem to agree with the series so the showrunners intend to have her for the next season.
"We couldn't work out her schedule. Next year," the EP added. Adding more emphasis to their intent, Kreisberg interjected by saying, "We're going to do it, we'll just do it next year."
As for the potential role the 64-year-old actress will portray, "All right, she's the female president of the United States," Berlanti revealed.
No word from CBS yet if the series will be renewed for a sophomore run, but it remains clear that the two showrunners are optimistic that "Supergirl" will be picked up for one more season.
For the uninitiated, "Supergirl" chronicles the life of DC Comics character Supergirl (a.k.a. Kara Zor-El) who is a costumed superheroine. She is one of the last surviving Kryptonians, and also Superman's biological cousin.
The superhero action-adventure television series is developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Ali Adler. The show is created by Otto Binder and actress Melissa Benoist plays the title role. Since its first season premiere, the series received mostly positive reviews, with review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes giving it a 97 percent approval rating from critics. Out of 66 reviews, "Supergirl" received an average rating of 7.6/10. "Melissa Benoist shines as Superman's plucky little cousin in Supergirl, a family-friendly comic-book adaptation that ditches cynicism for heart," the site's consensus reads.
The first season of 'Supergirl' currently airs on CBS, Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
