'Supergirl' season 2 spoilers news: Low ratings to cause budget cuts, execs moving the show to The CW?

Hit superhero series "Supergirl" ended its freshman run last April, and up to now CBS has not yet announced if the show will receive a season 2 order. This caused concern among fans of the Girl of Steel, as the show hangs in the balance because of one issue her superpowers can't solve — money.
The series seemed very promising as it garnered a modest 13 million viewers during its October premiere, but almost half of that was lost in the season 1 finale. As Cinemablend points out, CBS and Warner Bros. are reported to still be in the process of negotiating about the fate of the series. Even though the network is on board with pushing it through for a sophomore run, the issue at hand is the licensing fee CBS has to pay for airing the show which is around $3 million. With the drastic drop in the show's ratings, continuing it will be difficult. For CBS execs, it is definitely a hard call to make, particularly when people are losing interest in the series.
Readers are advised to take this with a grain of salt, but a report from The Wrap claims that CBS and Warner Bros. reached a dead end in negotiations for a season 2. Both networks have high hopes to find a middle ground where they can all agree with, and it is speculated that the show will be moved to The CW alongside similar superhero shows "The Flash" and "Arrow." However, sources working close with the show have flatly denied the rumors though Screencrush notes that "it's in their budget's best interest to." "That's been a rumor for two years," a talent rep source told The Wrap. "Zero fact."
As of now, CBS has not yet issued an official statement regarding the fate of "Supergirl."
