'Supergirl' season 2 promo, spoilers, air date: DC characters that will be introduced next season

The CW recently released a trailer for the second season of "Supergirl." The brief footage revealed the new superhero character Superman who is portrayed by "Teen Wolf" alum Tyler Hoechlin.
In the previous season, Superman was merely mentioned and praised by his cousin "Supergirl." But in season 2, fans of the family will now be able to see them both in action. Melissa Benoist's Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl will be teaming up with her cousin to save the crew aboard a spacecraft.
Kara has been the sole protector of National City. Since Superman will be sticking around, does this mean that the duo will be facing more super villains? It seems so.
The show will be introducing more DC characters next season, not just the Man of Steel. Floriana Lima was cast as Maggie Sawyer. She will be portraying a cop heading the metahuman branch of National City Police. Her big storyline will involve Kara's sister. Lena Luthor will also be introduced next season. She will be portrayed by Kathie McGrath. The character will be Kara's friend and Supergirl's rival.
Alien characters such as Ms. Martian and Mon-El who will be portrayed by Chris Wood will be joining the cast as well. The characters' appearance in the forthcoming season will allow viewers to know more about the roots of the superhero family.
"The 100" actress Dichen Lachman will be joining the cast starting in the fourth episode of the second season. The actress will appear as the antagonist Roulette, the owner of an underground fight club who dreams about getting "Supergirl" into the ring one day.
Furthermore, Superman's nemesis Metallo will be making an appearance next season. He will be portrayed by Frederick Schmidt. The super villain is a cyborg with a kryptonite power source.
The second season of "Supergirl" will premiere on The CW on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT.
