'Supergirl' season 2 cast news, spoilers: Mehcad Brooks wants 'Arrow' crossover; Melissa Benoist says no to Supergirl-Flash romance

Now that "Supergirl" will be on The CW, where it joins the rest of the DC superhero television series, it will become easier for the characters in the other shows to visit Supergirl, and vice versa.
In a recent interview on DC All Access, the cast of "Supergirl" spoke about future crossovers and one of them, Mehcad Brooks, who plays Supergirl/Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) love interest James Olsen, was particularly excited for possible interactions with the other DC-based characters.
"Arrow would be amazing," the actor said. Brooks also teased possible title mash-ups for future collaborations, including "SuperArrow" and "SuperJane The Virgin."
After airing its freshman season on CBS, "Supergirl" will be bringing its season 2 to The CW in the fall. The move could allow for more crossovers with The Flash, Arrow, and the Legends of Tomorrow, all of whom are on The CW.
During the interview, Brooks also spoke about the simmering romance between James and Kara, indicating that the two are not in a rush to become a couple.
But just because Kara and James' relationship may not be going anywhere in season 2 doesn't mean that Supergirl could instead be getting together with Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin), who visited National City and its protector in the show's first season.
According to Benoist, while it is certainly "logical" to assume that the two superheroes could become an item, she doesn't think that Kara and Barry think of each other that way.
"I don't know if they'd ever get together; I think they're too similar," Benoist told DC All Access. "I think they're pals, pigging out on ice cream... And donuts. All the donuts."
Benoist recently reacted to the show's move to The CW, telling ET that it's "really fitting." Speaking from the Los Angeles Film Festival premiere of "Lowriders" on Wednesday, June 1, the actress said, "It's the logical fit for us. It's a really great group to be involved with."
"What I'm most excited about is we get to kind of linger a little more on certain storylines from the comic books that maybe we didn't get to do last season," she added. "Spread out storylines, which I'm really excited about."
"Supergirl" season 2 debuts in early October. It is scheduled to air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
